During the holidays Sarah asked Daniel if he would build her another bed for the animal friends living in the tree-house....oh, and "could it be a four poster bed like mine" was the sweetly asked request!
Fortunately for her, nothing is too hard when it comes to playing with timber and tools (isn't he so like his Dad?). So after a bit of advice from Tony, especially concerning what timber he could use, Daniel commenced the project with gusto and enthusiasm. He really enjoys doing this sort of stuff, and being out in the backyard is one of his favourite places to be.
I remember one time when he was a toddler. It was winter, and the girls and I were huddled around the heater (we didn't have the fireplace back then), trying to keep warm, or get warmer....and Daniel is pushing and shoving at the door trying to go outside to play! I don't know if it is simply a boy/girl thing, but some things have not changed. Sarah will look pained when we announce it's time for some outside chores, and Daniel will be almost jumping for joy! Well, sometimes he actually does, in the way he runs around excitedly; asking what are we doing, what tools do we need etc - while all the while running for the door. Neither does it matter what work needs doing outside. He just wants to do it!
Anyway, he applied himself to the task of the mini 4 poster bed - which took 2 days.
Oh, and it's quite a versatile piece of furniture. Daniel says you can turn it upside down and it becomes a table, as in the last photo!

Well Done Daniel
Thankyou Louise!
He really seems to enjoy this handyman stuff :)
I'll pass on your kind comment to him - he'll be really chuffed!
