Our Vegie garden has been absolutely raging! Lots of sun and rain and some watering have meant we are now eating our own homegrown cherry tomatoes, lettuce, lebanese cucumbers, baby bell capsicums, mini watermelons, chilli, strawberries, parsley, oregano and coriander. I wont grow coriander anymore, as it grew way too fast and went to flower...especially as I can buy 2 bunches for $1.50 at my local asian store!
It was only after we had eaten our salad the other night when I thought (too late) that I should have taken a photo. I was so very proud of the salad plate I'd made up to go with our dinner! It consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, cucumber, capsicum and flat leaf parsley; just a simple salad that I could have added other things to, but I wanted to ensure that only our own grown produce was in it.
Daniel is taking particular notice of growth, and gives me an update each morning after he feeds our dogs, of how the garden is growing. We will sometimes go and pick some tomatoes together, but usually I leave it till I am preparing meals and snip them straight from the garden to our plate...sensational!
This is our eggplant
Mini watermelons, grown in a pot. We have 2 fruit this size, plus more flowers
our main patch
Our corn bed planted early January
Our Corn, less than a month later
Whenever I serve salad now, the children ask me, "Is this from our garden?" To be able to reply "yes" is very satisfying indeed!
GENESIS 1:29 And God said, "See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed, to you it shall be for food."

Curious Cavorting Cavoodle
That's the name of Sarah's new blog - or should I say, Miley's blog, LOL! I've given help and direction in setting it up, but Sarah has chosen the design, and written the entries.
She is quite excited about the whole project, which is obviously pleasing to me, and what's more, I can record an early tick for creative writing and technology...and we haven't even started schooling for the year yet! I'm sure this will become a long term project which will delight us all.
Here's the link if you would like to have a look

Gorgeous Libraries
Fliztea over at the Rockpool posted a link to the following site and its photos of Libraries from all over the world a few weeks ago, and I just had to share them with you, too.
They are magnificent! Such wonderful architecture and artistry...I'm afraid my local Library just does not even rate in these stakes, lol.
I find it quite impossible to choose a favourite, though the Libraries in Portugal impress me greatly. Then again, most of the photos do!
Here they are at http://curiousexpeditions.org/?p=78
It's quite a long page, but well worth waiting for the pictures to load. I hope you enjoy them!

Our Soccer Star
We had a very exciting evening on Sunday. Daniel's soccer team was one of a few teams chosen to play a mini game during the half-time break of the A-league game between SYDNEY FC and WELLINGTON PHEONIX at SYDNEY FOOTBALL STADIUM! The game was won by Sydney FC 1-0 YAY!!!
Here is a picture of the stadium - empty because we had to arrive 3 hours early for a 'rehearsal' ..
Daniel, with some of the 9,605 crowd behind him
Some action, but not of when HE SCORED A GOAL!!! Yes, he did!! WooHoo!!!
What a great night. The supporters were loud and united, and they even had a drummer! I got such a thrill (and a giggle) from the way Daniel ran onto the field...waving at the crowd as if he were the big star!! Actually, in my eyes, he is!

Homeschool Philosophy Review
I seem to have been talking to a lot of people about homeschooling lately (go on ... YOU can do it! ) and if you click on the link below, you can read a great article which gives a short review of the various homeschool philosophies and methods.
It's well worth a read for anyone wondering just 'how' you could go about homeschooling your children. Which style appeals to you? Which style do you think would best suit your children?

Interesting, isn't it? And the possibilities...
